Networking objectives

Researchers companies, farmers, end-users and other stakeholders still often living apart. Regarding the networking capacity-building, SOURDOMICS wants to be the catalyst:

  • To the creation of a channel of in-house and international communication, stimulating collaborations between researchers and between researchers and farmers, consumers and companies;
  • To bring together researchers, technicians and entrepreneurs from different academic backgrounds and research fields but with the same common denominator: cereals and sourdough technology;
  • To integrate previous and ongoing research projects into the COST Action SOURDOMICS, thus providing S&T expertise from distinct fields;
  • To the effective knowledge exchange and transfer, including pursue mechanisms of sharing analytical methodologies, equipment, infrastructures, samples (e.g. cereal seeds, microorganisms) and research efforts based on funded projects;
  • To compare studies and to establish integrated objectives between different research groups;
  • To create a network of training schools (TS’s), short-term scientific missions (STSM’s) and conference grants dedicated to sourdough biotechnology – thus allowing the exposure of investigators and technicians at distinct career levels to the most recent state-of-the-art, and influencing new trends and industrial/commercial applications;
  • To the creation of “The Community of Sourdough”, i.e. a meeting point of research groups and technicians spread in different geographical regions with an effective transnational coordination body.
