Melekşen Akın is an Associate Professor of Horticulture at Iğdır University, Turkey. She received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Horticulture at Ordu University, Turkey. Her Ph.D. in Horticulture/minor in Statistics was earned at Oregon State University. Dr. Akın’s current research involves improving mineral nutrition of in vitro plants using advanced statistical approaches. She is Editor of Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry, as well as Review Editor on the Editorial Board of Food Safety and Quality Control (specialty section of Frontiers in Food Science and Technology). She is also a Management Committee member (representing Turkey) for Cost action CA18201 on Conservation of Threatened Plants. Dr. Akın has reviewed for multiple journals including In vitro Cellular and Developmental Biology, Plant Cell Tissue Organ Culture, Plant Cell Reports, Scientific Reports, Frontiers in Plant Science, and PLoS One.
